Welcome to the web site of the Swedish Central American Chamber of Commerce (SWECA)!

The Central American region consists of the countries Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua and Panama.

As you may have already discovered the Central American Region, with a population of 40 million inhabitants, offers excellent business opportunities. Many Swedish companies have developed successful business relationships with this Region. The most dominant field is the Telecom sector, where companies like Ericsson and Millicom have had quite a progress during the recent years.

Furthermore, after entering into a very successful Free Trade Agreement with the US and recently also with the EU, this will no doubt lead to an increased economic growth within the Region in general and will stimulate and expand the business opportunities in Europe and consequently also for companies based in Sweden.

In this context, SWECA was created to provide Swedish companies with updated information, relevant networks and contact persons in the Region and offer support in doing business with this new, exciting, potential business partner. The main objective of SWECA is to be the Business Link between Sweden and Central America.

Since the Chamber was inaugurated in September 2008, we have hosted several successful seminars, which you can read about in our “Events” section. We have already planned two events for the autumn of 2010 and more events are to follow.

SWECA is supported by the ambassadors and consuls from all countries in the Region which guarantees access and support to members from political and official institutions, networks and contacts.

Please read also our "Letter from our President".
